AirPrime HL Series provides global coverage on a single module and location-based services for insurance, fleet and logistics applications
Sierra Wireless have announced that SmartDrive has selected AirPrime HL8548-G embedded modules to enable cellular connectivity and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) location-based services for its DriveOn and DriveOps telematics units being used in insurance, fleet and logistics sectors. Sierra Wireless HL Series modules provide pin-to-pin compatibility for easy future migration as SmartDrive expands into global markets.

DriveOn and DiveOps OBD-II dongles collect and send driving data to applications for telematics services, including insurance, driving diagnosis, gas/parking/maintenance notifications, and enterprise cloud management. This is a growing market in Japan and internationally.

Sierra Wireless AirPrime HL Series modules are the smallest embedded wireless modules (22 x 23 mm) to be completely interchangeable across 2G, 3G, 4G LTE and future LPWA technologies. HL8548-G supports GNSS, providing accurate locations through GPS and Glonass signals. The HL Series uses the new CF3™ form factor, which is footprint compatible across product lines and network technologies and will remain fully interchangeable with future versions of the modules, including those for LPWA networks when they become available.
