The Executive Centre Deploys New Ruckus Wireless Infrastructure

The Executive Centre installs new Ruckus Wireless WiFi infrastructure in order to improve customer retention

The Executive Centre, provider of high quality, on-demand serviced offices, virtual offices, meeting facilities, and video conferencing, has turned to leading wireless systems manufacturer, Ruckus Wireless, to improve its customer retention by meeting clients’ increasing demand for wireless internet.

WiFi has become a necessity for businesses and users at any serviced offices would expect to connect to the worldwide web safely, at an optimal speed, and throughout the premises.”

-Linda Hui, managing director, Hong Kong & Taiwan, Ruckus Wireless.

The Executive Centre is an international premium serviced office provider in 20 cities including Singapore, Hong Kong, Beijing, Jakarta, Mumbai, Seoul and Sydney. Their clients are given access to fully furnished and fully-equipped workplaces, prestigious addresses, plentiful meeting rooms and a variety of local business support services.

Previously, the centre provided wired connectivity, using WiFi as a secondary network. However, with a massive increase in the use of mobile devices and high definition media, such as online conferences in the offices, they were met with increased demand for wireless internet.

With our previous wireless systems, there was a lack of throughput, coverage was insufficient, and the limited control and management on the network caused congestion issues.”

-Jason Wong, chief technology officer of The Executive Centre.

To counter this, the company decided to implement a new WiFi infrastructure using access points and controllers. After extensive research, they decided that Ruckus’ products best suited their WiFi demands. Consisting of more than 170 Ruckus ZoneFlex R710 802.11ac Wave 2 access points and a central management platform created using a cluster of Ruckus SmartZone controllers, The Executive Center were successfully able to meet the demands for high-quality WiFi.

The deployment was done entirely by The Executive Centre’s in-house team. “[Since our team] had the necessary technical skills, we didn’t face any technical issues and didn’t have to use an outside vendor to help set things up.” – Wong.

He added that the new WiFi infrastructure has enabled his company to extend the coverage of its WiFi network for clients, provide a faster internet as they are now on a Gigabit class wireless infrastructure, and support more users per centre. Besides that, The Executive Centre is now able to use another centre’s Ruckus WiFi network as a backup. “For example, if I have 100 users in site 1 and another 100 users in site 2, if site 1 goes down, I can fall back to site 2 so that site 2 supports 200 users,” Wong explained.

The Executive Centre plans to replace the aged wireless facilities in their existing centres with Ruckus Wireless systems in order to maintain high level of client satisfaction.
